2009 will be the best yet!

Happy belated New Year, and hope that this year will be the best yet. Personally, I think that each new year is better than the last because it is new. It is fresh, unsuspecting, different. The things in the past are great, but they have been completed. There is nothing to be said about those events because they are finished. The future, however, awaits.

I hope that this year will bring about new successes for my athletic career. This will be the first year that I consciously go after a Hawaii spot. I am signed up for two races: Eagleman (1 spot for my AG) and Louisville (2 spots for my AG). This will also be the first time that I race an Ironman. I go into it knowing that I can prepare to finish, but I hope that my preparation allows me to race.

But for now, it is just school and school controlling my life. Also my achilles, which has allowed me to run outdoors only a handful of time in the last two months. I will return, though, better than ever, chasing after that elusive Hawaii dream.

Ironman Louisville 2009 Donation

So my new goal for the 2009 sporting season is the Louisville Ironman at the end of August. This race is quite new, only running for a few years, but like all other North American Ironmans, it is extremely popular. So popular, in fact, that they charge $525 for entrance into the event. Currently for me, that is too much. So the mission of this post is to raise enough funds to send me to the start line of Ironman Louisville next August 30th. It does not need to be much- and no more than $20 please- but if you can sacrifice a few pints of beer, or a few frappuccinos, or even one month child support, I will train as hard as possible to ensure that your donation does not go to waste.

I invite all of you to join me in training or at the races. Right now the only race on my calendar is Eagleman Half-Ironman in Cambridge, Maryland the second weekend of June. But I hope through this effort that I will also be able to race my first Ironman, and God-willing, my second if I qualify for the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawai'i. So, if for nothing else, know that a small donation now could lead to a great excuse for a vacation to the 'Big Island' of Hawai'i next October!

Through triathlon, like any other endeavor that one chooses to pursue, I have gained a new level of work ethic, determination and focus that spills across all aspects of my life. I have raced in many races and met some great people. I believe that triathlon was the catalyst for my yearning for travel and education, all of which have benefited me greatly. You can follow all of my progress between now and then here-

I will post all sorts of things, including training updates, simple quips or anecdotes, and of course stories from my upcoming trip to India. Also know that with your donation, no matter the size, I will post your name on my racesuit (seen in attached picture) so that you will actually be racing with me during those 10 or hopefully less hours.

So if you would like to make a donation to the so-called 'Kevin-to-Louisville-hopefully-to-Kona-sufferfest' fund, just shoot me a personal email (kevinptrainer@gmail.com) and I will send you a return envelope where you can place and mail your donation.

Thanks to all for even reading and see you all soon!
